NFR proposes to resume Silchar - Bairabi passenger train from Sep 10 as biweekly

The Northeast Frontier Railways has proposed to resume the Silchar Bairabi passenger train service from 10th September, connecting Hailakandi district of Barak Valley, a railway notification mentioned.

The train will run biweekly every Tuesday and Friday from Silchar and every Wednesday and Saturday from Bairabi station. As per the timetable, the train will depart from Silchar station at 4:55 pm and reach Bairabi 9pm. It will depart back at 5:30 am of next day to reach Silchar by 9:20 am.

The train will halt at 12 intermediary stations including Arunachal, Salchapra, Hailakandi, Lala, Jamira.

The train will consists of total 10 coaches, with primary maintenance at Silchar.

Meanwhile, former North Karimganj MLA Mission Ranjan Das on Friday wrote a letter to Assam CM urging to resume the local passenger train service at Barak Valley.
