NHIDCL to carry out DPR Study for MMLP in Silchar; Only 33% Balacherra to Harangajao road-work completed
Responding to the questions raised in the Parliament, Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Nitin Gadkari informed that NHIDCL will carry out a Detailed Project Report (DPR) study for the Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP).
Member of Parliament, Dr. Rajdeep Roy raised two questions in the parliament. His questions included, the present status of the work on the 25.2 kms stretch of the East West Corridor between Balacherra and Harangajao in Assam. And the second question was about the present status of the Multi Modal Logistics Park proposed to be constructed in Silchar.
About the East-West corridor, which is also known as the ‘Mahasadak’, the ministry responded, “The physical progress for the four laning of Balacherra to Harangajao section of NH – 29 (old NH – 54) is 32.98% and the length completed till date is 10.36 km.” It is worth mentioning here that the Harangajao to Balacherra stretch is about 33 kilometres long.
About the proposed Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP), the ministry has informed that it has assigned NHIDCL (National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation) to carry out the DPR study for MMLP Silchar on “the request of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Assam.”
“The DPR work has been awarded to Consortium of M/s Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd. (TCE) and M/s CBRE South Asia Private Limited. The DPR work has commenced on 09.04.2021 for the site (45.3 acres) proposed by Govt of Assam vide letter dated 01.04.2021,” read the response.
