Nirbhaya-type gang rape in Barak Valley; Six juveniles rape a minor on camera

Horrible news coming in from Karimganj District’s Ramkrishna Nagar area. Six minor boys ganged up to rape a minor girl. The incident has come to light after the parents reported it to the Police Station.

The Police have recovered a video footage that was filmed by the miscreants while raping the minor girl. “That video footage is the piece of evidence that we are investigating. The victim has been sent to the hospital for medical checkup. What we have learned so far is that the victim was gang raped six days back. This is a case of late-reporting,” informed a top cop in Karimganj District.

“It is unbelievable that six innocent-looking minor boys can do something as heinous as this. Not just the rape, they have notoriously filmed the entire incident and kept it saved in the real estate of their mobile phones,” informed the top Police Official in the district police.

Karimganj Police is now investigating the rape case, and at the same time, has reached out to cyber surveillance to find if the video of the rape has been circulated further in society.

What remains an astonishment is how the minors are getting motivated to commit something as heinous as gangrape in a country where people swear by ‘Bharat Mata’. One such gangrape in Delhi had shook the pillars of this democracy in 2012. Will this rape in the corner of Assam attract national attention, is something that remains to be seen?
