"No entry" clamped on various roads across Silchar to ensure smooth passage to exam centre
In connection with the upcoming direct recruitment examination tomorrow, the Superintendent of Police, Cachar has issued a traffic advisory in the district. To manage the anticipated heavy traffic influx in the town due to the Grade III recruitment examination, various entry points have been closed for heavy vehicles. Various check posts have been set up to stop any commercial vehicles or goods carriers from entering Silchar at designated times. The Direct Recruitment examination will be held in two shifts tomorrow and applicants from neighbouring districts of Karimganj and Hailakandi also have their centres in Cachar, which increases the traffic load further.
The advisory issued by SP Cachar says, “Except the Public Carrier vehicles no other Heavy vehicle/Commercial vehicle/Goods Carrier Vehicle will be allowed to enter towards the Silchar town from 4:00 AM to 3:00 PM on 28/08/2022 from- Rongpur Tri-junction, E&D Colony Point, Chirukandi Point, ISBT- Ram Nagar, NH Way Point and Nagatilla Point.”
The advisory has further instructed, “No vehicle will be allowed to ply from 4:00 AM to 03:00 PM on 28/08/2022; from forest office point to DC office and G.C College Road from both sides.” Except for the Public Carrier vehicles, no other Heavy or Commercial vehicle or Goods Carrier will be allowed to enter from 4:00 AM to 03:00 PM on 28/08/2022 from Katigorah, Gumrah, Kalain side towards Silchar. The advisory has further advised the candidates not to bring private lower motor vehicles and not to park bikes within 50 meters radius of examination centres to avoid traffic jams. If anyone is found violating the traffic rules, it may invite prosecution.
Traffic movement has already started and many applicants from both Karimganj and Hailakandi are staying overnight in Silchar to appear for the exam tomorrow. The examination that was held last Sunday, saw many absentees and many reported being stuck in traffic, on the way from Karimganj or Hailakandi. To ease the traffic on the road, one exam special train will also ply between Karimganj and Silchar station. The train will leave Karimganj Junction at 6 AM tomorrow and reach Silchar at 7:30 AM.
