Not following COVID norms: District administration orders Nahata to remain shut
One of the largest apparel stores in Silchar, Nahata Textiles located in Premtala has been asked to remain shut.
An order issued by the office of the deputy commissioner states, “As per report received regarding non-abiding of COVID-19 Protocols/Norms by the staff and others of “Nahata Retail(P) Ltd”, Dewanjee Bazaar, Premtola, Silchar the undersigned has decided that the following shop will remain closed until further order from this end for the greater public interest.”
The order adds that the owner of the shop will not be allowed to open his shop or sell items under any circumstances.
“Any violation of the above-mentioned terms and conditions will be punishable offense under 51(b) of Disaster Management Act,2005 and under section 188/270 of Indian Penal Code. This order comes into force with immediate effect,” states the order issued by Cachar DC.
While the administration did not mention the specific protocols that the apparel giant has breached, it is believed that the shop was over-crowded today with a large number of shoppers without masks. The administration has made it clear that under no circumstances the shops should allow customers enter without the mask.
