NRC, 'D' Voter : Tapodhir Bhattacharjee, Kamalakhya to attend Seminar in New Delhi
The All Assam Bengali Youth Students Federation is all set to host a national seminar in New Delhi on December 29.
The event will primarily be on the issue of NRC, D-Voters, detention camps and Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. The programme is likely to be attended by former Assam University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Tapodhir Bhattacharjee, Karimganj MLA Kamalakshya Dey Purkayastha among others.
Human Rights activist Harsh Mander, All Assam Bengali Youth Students Federation president Deepak Dey, Vice-president Rathindra Das, lawyer and former Tripura Minister Subal Bhowmik, Bihar Bengali Association president Dr. Dilip Sinha, Delhi Bengali Association general secretary Tapan Sengupta are also expected to speak at the event.
The event, which will be held at the Deputy Chairman Hall of the Constitution Club of India, is scheduled to begin at 10 am on December 29. Apart from the key speeches and panel discussions, a question-answer round is also likely to be organised.
One of the key attractions of the event will be a documentary on the May 19 “Language Martyrs” of Silchar, Assam. A press meet is also scheduled to be held at 4 pm on same day.
