It is a national holiday, yet, the officials in the health department continued with their work. Technicians collected hundreds of samples and experts tested them. The COVID warriors continued with their relentless effort that began on the last day of March. In Cachar district, on Friday, 82 individuals tested positive. The administration informed that 61 of them were tested using the Rapid Antigen Test kit while 21 tested positive for COVID 19 on RT-PCR. 1230 tests were conducted in the district.

Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, vice-principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that seven students took admission to the COVID wards of SMCH while five got discharged. Currently, there are 100 patients in the COVID block of the hospital that caters to critical and symptomatic patients.

“16 patients are in the ICU and two have been placed under ventilator,” informed Dr. Gupta, he added, “34 patients are considered to be in critical condition and 18 are on oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, one resident of Cachar succumbed to the COVID ward.”

In Karimganj district, 610 samples were tested and 10 of them were found infected. Two others tested positive on RT-PCR taking the district’s toll on Friday to 12. Meanwhile, the administration informed that 46 patients were discharged from various hospitals in Karimganj.

10 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in South Assam’s Hailakandi district on Friday, taking the district’s tally to 3,140.

Health authorities here disclosed that all the 10 positive cases have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). Altogether 1,191 swab samples were taken on Friday out of which 208 are under RT-PCR and 983 under RAT.
