Oct 5 COVID Update: 53 positive in Cachar, 7 in Hailakandi, Karimganj 17; No death in SMCH

Cachar administration informed that on Monday, 53 individuals tested positive for COVID19 in the district. 1671 samples were tested using the Rapid Antigen Test kit on October 5 and 43 of them tested positive.

In Karimganj district, 486 samples were collected. 16 individuals tested positive on RAT and one was found positive on RT-PCR taking the district’s total to 17 on Monday. Meanwhile, the administration informed that eight patients were discharged from various COVID Care centres in the district.

Nine fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Hailakandi on Monday, taking the district’s total tally to 3,168.

Health authorities in Hailakandi disclosed that of the 9 positive cases, 4 have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while five under RT-PCR.

Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, vice-principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital in his briefing mentioned that 14 patients took admission to SMCH’s COVID wards in the last 24 hours while 4 got discharged. Currently, there are 123 patients in the COVID block of SMCH and 24 of them are in ICU. One patient is under ventilator and 25 are considered to be in critical condition.

42 patients are on oxygen support and Dr. Gupta informed that there was no COVID related death in the hospital on Monday.
