In March 2018, HPC employees of Cachar and Jagi Road will get three months salary. Today, after a meeting with the employee uniom, HPC’s MD Shashikant Jain informed the same to the media.

Paper mill employees have not received their monthly wages since last 18 months and Jain shared that the pending salaries will be cleared in installments. Each installments will comprise of three months wages.

There have been talks of government privatising the two paper mills. Recently, Anant Geete, Minister of heavy industries and public enterprises, informed that the governement will continue to retain the ownership while management and operations would be handed over to third party private bodies.

Jain clearing the confusion said that the government owned fully privatise the two mills instead will run them in PPP (Public Private Partnership) mode. And the procedure to revive the defunct mills under the PPP will start in April 2018. He also added that the government is determined to revive the mills as soon as possible.

A source close to the development informed that the Kendriya Vidyalaya in Panchgram will continue to function as usual. The source also informed that the promised salary will be disbursed within March 15, 2018.
