Paper Mill: “The committee will continue with its Bandh in Barak Valley on Nov 22”: Manabendra Chakraborty
Since today evening, television channels based out of Guwahati are reporting that the “HPC Paper Mills Revival Action Committee” has called off its strike on November 22, 2018. Reports suggest that senior members of the committee met chief minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal today evening and after having a detailed conversation, decided to call off the strike. Reports also suggest that the chief minister assured the committee members to put Mills revival up for discussion in the Parliament during the winter session.
However, Barak Valley members are unaware of any such meeting with the chief minister and instead busy preparing for the Bandh. “We are not aware what happened in Nagaon and if they have indeed called off the strike. However, irrespective of what happens there, the HPC Paper Mills Revival Action Committee will continue with its 12 hours Bandh in Barak Valley on November, 22, 2018,” chief convener of the committee tells Barak Bulletin.
The action committee has planned eight rallies in Barak Valley tomorrow to garner support for the bandh on Thursday (November 22, 2018). Silchar (3:30pm), Karimganj (11am), Hailakandi (2pm), Panchgram (8:30am), Badarpur (6pm), Kalain (4pm), Gumrah (4:30pm) and Katigorah (4pm).
