Phensedyl worth three and a half crore rupees seized from a lorry carrying rice at Churaibari, Two arrested

Churaibari police of Bazaricherra seized Phensedyl worth about three and a half crore rupees from a six-wheeler lorry loaded with rice headed towards Tripura. The driver and assistant of the lorry have been arrested. As per reports, today morning, a six-wheeler lorry carrying rice bearing number MP 07 HB 7850 arrived at the Churaibari Police Watch Post in Bazaricherra. After careful inspection, 35,000 bottles of Phensedyl kept in 353 cartoons hidden by keeping the rice bags outside were recovered by the Police. 

As per Police, the black market value of the seized Phensedyl is estimated to be around three and a half crore rupees. The names of the arrested persons are Rafat Ali and Ashif Ali. Both of them are residents of Uttar Pradesh. The Police has lodged a case against them under the NDPS act and has started investigation.

Gate in-charge Pranab Milli said when the arrested were handed over to the district CJM court today, the court ordered them to be kept in jail. Although the Police are actively intercepting drug smugglers in the region, still it has not been possible for the administration to completely curb the drug trade as the drug dealers are not willing to retreat from this profitable business.
