Police arrests Kamrul Islam Barbhuiya; he stole over 5000 bikes from Barak Valley

Big success for Cachar Police and a major relief for the people of Barak Valley. In a special operation Rangirkhari Police and Cachar SP got hold of bike lifting kingpin Kamrul Islam Barbhuiya.

Reacting to a tipoff, police conducted a raid at his Lekoi residence and arrested him. One pistol, two rounds of ammunition, three master keys, 13 vehicle lock breaking tools, some stolen parts of Vehicle, four fake number plates, one blue colour stolen number plate AS – 11 D 9299 were recovered from his possession. The police conducted the raid last night around 10 PM.

He was then taken to the Police station and during interrogation, Kamrul Islam confessed that he is the kingpin who runs various bike lifting rackets in entire Barak Valley. He is a serial offender and was involved in several others crimes.

As per Police he has confessed the following crimes in his statement:

1. He has been stealing motor-cycles and other vehicles since 2007

2. He along with his group stole around 5000 motor cycles from Barak Valley till date.

3. He has stolen almost 30 (12 wheeler) trucks till date.

4. He sold stolen bikes/vehicles in Jiribam, Aizwal and Patharkandi.

5. He has direct involvement in all the vehicle lifting cases in Cachar district.

6. He received stolen bikes from bike lifters in Barak Valley and Guwahati.

7. He needs only 3 minutes to steal a bike and 5 minutes to steal a big truck.

8. He has also been involved in Arms smuggling. He purchases pistols from Dimapur and sells them at 55,000 to other bike lifters and smugglers.

9. In 2007 he stole a medicine loaded truck and sold it to someone in Imphal for Rs 20 lakhs.

10. He has also murdered 2 person, one in 2013, the victim is Luftur Rahman Choudhury of Saidpur and another one in 2007, when he killed Arul Islam Choudhury of Barohali. He had shot them both with Pistol ans snatched their motorcycles.

11. He also receives stolen Laptops from local thieves and later sells them. Till date he has stolen about 20 Laptops.

12. He is a veteran drug peddler

The police informed that the investigation is on, and followup actions will be taken.
