Fake Job Interviews: Police arrests fraud from a hotel in Silchar

With unemployment rate rocketing sky-high, the youth of the country is always surfing for jobs online. One post on Naukri.com announcing a walk-in-interview for jobs in Central Bank caught the attention of many Barakians. Applicants from all across the valley reached Hotel Gateway located in Shillongpatty.

A man identified himself as Abhishek Das and said he travelled from Guwahati to conduct the interviews. and handed over the question papers to all the applicants. One of the applicants said, “The questions were incorrect which triggered a suspicion on the integrity of the interview process.”

Abhishek Das, the interviewer asked the applicants to pay a fee which further triggered their suspicion. All of them became sure when they saw the interview setup. “There was no chair, table. He was sitting on the bed and taking interviews. The applicant was also asked to sit on the bed,” said another applicant who got attracted by the Naukri.com post.

That is when the applicants started talking to each other and share their views. Meanwhile, the manager of the hotel also reached out to the applicants and asked them to be careful as the interview could be fake. The applicants rushed to the nearest Central Bank branch and asked if they are conducting any interviews. The Bank officials informed that they are not recruiting at this stage and there is no interview going on.

 

The applicants immediately informed Police officials about it and personnel from Silchar Sadar Police Station reached the hotel. They checked his identity cards and found out that his name is Raja Das and he is a resident of Karimganj and not Guwahati.

Das immediately accepted that he staged the fake interview and he is a fraud. Police took him to the station for further interrogation. The applicants were shocked at the entire development.
