Police detains three more Nigerians in Assam-Tripura border
Detention of Nigerian citizens in Assam’s Barak Valley continues. Today evening, officials from Churaibari Police station managed to detain three more Nigerians as they were on their way to Guwahati. In the last three months, more than 25 Nigerians have been detained by Assam and Meghalaya Police in the Northeastern region.
The three detained today are identified as Ohaezube (S/o Chinonso Philip), Eteanyiwara (S/o Ohenukwu Simeon) and Asieme (S/o Nnaemeka Bernard). As per Police sources, all three have confessed that they have entered India illegally from Bangladesh via Tripura. Police sources also informed that today they were traveling from Tripura to Guwahati.
Based on a secret tipoff, Churaibari Police in Assam, (there is Churaibari in Tripura side of the border too) started searching each and every night-super that was passing the inter-state border. Police said they are investigating the matter and therefore would not like to comment at this stage.
