Police in GC College: Boy claiming to be Dy Speaker's nephew allegedly harassed a girl

All the educational institutions of Barak Valley are busy with the last moment preparations of Saraswati Puja and so is Gurucharan College in Silchar. However, today afternoon, an incident occurred in the college premises that must have definitely spoiled the mood.

According to available information, a boy went to the college and held a girl’s hand. As per the girl’s statement it was not consensual. Allegedly, the boy has not only held the hand of the girl but also sent a text message to her.

The message, according to sources in GC College read, “See I touched you today and no one could do anything.” Sources informed that the girl went and showed the message to her classmates.

Irked by the message and the audacity of the male student, her classmates went and confronted the boy. He addressed himself as the nephew of Deputy Speaker of Assam, Aminul Haque Laskar. “Do you know who I am and what I can do to you? I am the nephew of Aminul Haque Laskar,” is what the boy apparently said to the girl’s classmates.

There the two parties engaged in a dual and later he was dragged to the principal’s office. Bibash Deb, Principal of GC College said he was surprised to see the crowd gathering in front of his office. “The college is shut. Only the students associated with the Puja committee are supposed to be in the premises. This boy is not in the committee, so it is unknown why he came to college in the first place,” said the Principal.

He added, “Students told me that the boy has addressed himself as the nephew of Aminul Haque Laskar. He has allegedly held the hand of a girl. We have summoned the guardians of both the students. Also, Police officials visited the college and they will also surely investigate the matter.”
