Police raids a house in Barak Valley; explosives seized, 2 detained
Based on a secret tip-off, a team of Cachar Police launched a search operation last evening in Kachudaram area. Under Sonai Legislative Assembly Constituency, Kachudram borders neighbouring state Mizoram.
As planned, the police officials raided the residence of Abul Hussain Laskar in Mohankhal located in Amraghat area. Cachar, SP, Mugdhajyoti Dev Mahanta informed that the Police officials successfully managed to seize, 10 Gelatin sticks, 10 detonators and 1 fuse wire from the residence they raided.
He said, “We have apprehended two persons from the residence of Abul Hussain Laskar. They are, Migda Hussain Laskar and Ali Hussain Laskar. Interrogation is going on.”
Superintendent Cachar Police also informed that the operation was conducted by Kachudaram Police Station under the leadership of deputy superintendent headquarter and DYSP DSB.
Sources in the department suggest that the explosives were smuggled from a different state. “It is unlikely that the explosives were brought to plant an attack in Silchar or Cachar. It seems they had got them with intentions of smuggling the explosives to other parts of the country. Police is investigating the matter,” said a source close to the development.
