Police recovers deadbody of the man kidnapped from Katigorah; Kidnappers demanded Rs 10 lakh

A highly deformed body of a man, who had been missing since October 25, was recovered from a pond at Karimganj’s Bhanga, earlier today.

The body was identified as Ramjik Attsah, an auto driver, who was allegedly kidnapped from Jagadishpur village of Cachar district’s Katigorah on October 25. The kidnapper reportedly also demanded a ransom of 10 lakh to the family of Ramjik, but due to belonging from a poor background, the family could not meet the ransom demand.

The police jumped into action as soon as they were complained and recovered the auto of the deceased from Panchgram in Hailakandi district. Also, two people were arrested in this regard and from the joint investigation by Badarpur police and Katigorah police, the body of the deceased was recovered from the pond on Thursday.

Police said they are investigating the case and are looking into all angles of the case.
