Principal of Bhanga H.S. School suspended amidst allegations of sexual abuse of Class VII student

In a distressing development, Asar Uddin, the Principal of Bhanga Higher Secondary School located in Karimganj district, has been placed under immediate suspension following serious allegations of sexual abuse of a student. The suspension order was issued by Smti. Mamata Hojai, Director of Secondary Education, Assam.

The decision to suspend Asar Uddin comes in response to a report received from the Inspector of Schools, K.D.C. Karimganj, which highlighted his alleged involvement in the sexual exploitation of a minor girl student belonging to Class VII. This disconcerting matter has garnered significant media attention, with both print and electronic platforms reporting on the incident, resulting in the tarnishing of the education department’s image in the eyes of the law and the public.

The demand for swift departmental action against the accused principal has intensified among the public and the students’ guardians. It has also been disclosed that the Badarpur Police is currently investigating the case. The availability of substantial evidence against Asar Uddin has necessitated the initiation of disciplinary action against him. Consequently, departmental proceedings have been called for in response to the allegations.

In the interim period while the departmental proceedings are underway the Principal of Bhanga Higher Secondary School has been placed under immediate suspension in accordance with Rule 6(1) of the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964. During this suspension period, he will receive subsistence allowances as per the applicable rules, but will not be permitted to leave the headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority.

It maybe mentioned that a minor girl studying in Karimganj Bhanga Higher Secondary School was allegedly raped by her Principal Asar Uddin. The victim, a student of Class 8 was called by the Principal to his room and then allegedly raped. The victim’s parents later filed an FIR against the Principal. Similar accusations were raised against the Principal in the past as well. The Principal allegedly perpetrated the crime while the school was going on.
