Rahul Singh’s 10-wicket in a match takes Silchar to the final of Nuruddin trophy

Silchar advanced to the final of Nuruddin Trophy Senior Inter-District Cricket. Pritam Das and co. blew away Lakhimpur in the second semi-final of the competition. The Silchar team secured the tickets to the final with a huge victory of innings and 10 runs. This time they will play against Dibrugarh in the title fight. The final match will start from June 30. The four-day final match at the Amin Gaon Stadium in Guwahati will also have a reserve day.

Silchar team had set the stage for victory yesterday with a huge lead in the first innings at the Amin Gaon Stadium in Guwahati. Today was the third day of the match and only formalities remained. The boys of Rajeev Das completed that work very well. Silchar’s score at stamps on the second day was 324 for four wickets. An hour before lunch today they declared the innings at 384 runs for 9 wickets. Infact, Silchar was forced to declare an innings because on the first day of the match, pacer Dibakar Johri left the field due to injury after bowling only four overs. He could not field also for a long time due to the injury. As a result, the team management did not want to take any risk with injured Johri. They announced the innings as soon as Rahul Singh got out.

Sanju Brahma took a break after scoring 110 runs yesterday. Today he got out after scoring 121 runs. Besides, Amit Yadav played an innings of fifty in the lower middle order. State team star Abhishek Thakuri failed to open his book. Samik Das (16) also could not do anything special. Notably, two centurians Parvez Musharraf and Sanju Brahma scored the same in Silchar’s innings. In the top order, Silchar reached a big score due to the century of these two. So even if the lower middle order did not perform as expected, they reached around 400. As a result, they got a lead of 222 runs in the first innings. Lakhimpur’s Jitumani Kalita took four wickets.

Lakhimpur started to play the second innings trailing by 222 runs. Their second innings ended with 212 runs even though they improved a bit compared to the first innings. Ruhinath Pegu scored a fighting century in the middle order. Besides, Jitumani Kalita (61) played half century innings. Basically, Lakhimpur managed to reach a respectable score because of the batting of these two. However, the loss could not be avoided due to the difference in innings. After the first innings, left handed spinner Rahul Singh took five wickets for the second time. As a result, he managed to secure ten wickets in the match. His bowling analysis in the second innings was 22-3-72-5. He was accompanied by Amit Yadav who took three wickets. Samik Das got two wickets.

Silchar coach Rajib Das is very happy to secure the tickets to the final. He said that the team earned the final clearance by playing all-round cricket and praised the two centurians Parvez Musharraf and Sanju Brahma separately. Alongwith this, the Silchar coach also praised the young Lakhimpur team. He said, “The Lakhimpur team is young. The team has good talent. They will improve with experience.” Pacer Dibakar Johri could only bowl four overs due to injury in the semi-final match. Perhaps Silchar is not getting him in the final. The coach of the team said that Vishal Nag can come to the eleven in the final. However, the final decision has not been taken yet.
