Rajdeep Roy dances as Manoj Tiwari sings 'Fagun Mein Bhauji'; BJP's tactical response to 'Non-Bengali Bawal'
Manoj Tiwari is a famous filmstar in India with huge fandom among the Bhojpuri speaking mass. Now an MP, Manoj Tiwari is a star campaigner for BJP in the Hindi-belt across the country. He is a star campaigner in Cachar too, where he holding two to three events a day.
His events have become more important this time for BJP in Cachar as there are senior leaders rebelling publically. Recently, BJP’s former president from Cachar Uday Shankar Goswami and senior leader Audhesh Singh had called a press conference and shared their disappointment on Silchar MP, Rajdeep Roy’s Hindu-Bengali comment.
The duo had alleged Roy of playing nasty politics by classifying Hindus as “Bengali and Non-Bengali.” It all started from a statement that Rajdeep Roy made while taking a jibe at Congress leader Jitendra Singh. Singh had said that the Citizenship Amendment Act in its current form won’t help any “Hindu Bengali” and therefore Congress will not let the Centre implement CAA if voted to form the government in the state.
Criticising it, Rajdeep Roy said that the Congress must not speak about Hindu Bengali as out of the 15 seats in Barak Valley, the Congress has fielded only two Hindu Bengali candidates – Tamal Banik and Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha. Roy’s point was that a party that is putting the existence of Bengali-Hindus in danger by fielding so fewer number of Hindu-Bengali candidates, must not preach on the security and welfare of the Bengali Hindus.
This jibe at Congress apparently offended the likes of Uday Shankar Goswami and Audhesh Singh who are non-Bengali Hindus and chair-holders in the party. In the controversial press conference, they asked Rajdeep Roy if the BJP by fielding only two Hindu-Non Bengali candidates – Moon Swarnakar and Kaushik Rai, putting the political existence of non-Bengali Hindus in question.
Directing a message to the non-Bengali voters, the two popular leaders openly said that they can vote for the candidate they like and not necessarily cast in favour of the BJP.
Yesterday, in a press conference, the organising secretary of the Barak Valley BJP, Nitya Bhushan Dey said, “It was not fair for the senior BJP leaders to rebel in the manner they did. Soon, we will sit with them and sort it out.”
To counter this rebel group, BJP’s ace of spades is MP Manoj Tiwari. In the Hindi-speaking belts of the district, when he sings, it is a carnival. On Sunday, he had two meetings in the Dholai constituency where BJP’s candidate is four-time MLA, Parimal Suklabaidya.
Famous for ‘Rinkiya Ke Papa’ Manoj Tiwari touched the nerve of a huge gathering in Derby and Darmi tea estates with his songs and energetic presentation. However, what was eye catching, is the way MP Rajdeep Roy shook his legs to the tunes of Tiwari.
Festival of colours, Holi is a week away and with that in the backdrop, Tiwari sang, ‘Phagun Mein Bhauji Bawaal Kaileba’. Roy started by clapping and soon starting moving his feet on the stage. The crowd present in hundreds enjoyed what was happening on the stage. Looking at the crowd, it became clear that the ‘Bawaal’ that Uday Shankar Goswami and Audesh Singh did has either not bothered them or has certainly faded from their memories.
