Rajdeep Roy, who has been nominated by the BJP in Silchar for the Lok Sabha election, filed his nomination at Cachar deputy commissioner’s office on Monday.
A rally was taken out from BJP office, Itkhola around 12pm this afternoon. BJP workers in massive numbers took part in the rally and finally assembled in front of the deputy commissioner’s office.
Speaking to Barak Bulletin after filing his nomination, Rajdeep Roy said he is confident of winning and that the country has witnessed immense progress and development after the BJP came to power.
“I am very hopeful, under the able leadership of Narendra Modiji at the Centre. We have shown the path for development that the people of India has seen in the last five years. And the people of Northeast under the leadership of Narendra Modiji, and also of Sarbananda Sonowal and Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. We have seen unprecedented developmental projects which have started in entire Barak Valley,” he said.
He said the presence of other parties in the run-up to the nomination is absolutely meagre and nominal, apparently taking a dig at the Congress.
Assam minister Pijush Hazarika said the BJP would definitely win in Silchar this time and Narendra Modi would once again become the Prime Minister. He also slammed the Congress saying the Congress is having different stands over the issue of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in Brahmaputra Valley and Barak Valley.
BJP leaders including former minister Kabindra Purkayastha and Cachar BJP president Kaushik Rai among others were present.
