Rajdhani Express Safely Passes Through Restored Section In Silchar - Lumding Route; “300 labourers deployed,” CPRO
Restoration works of the derailed track in the hill section between Jatinga Lumpur and New Harangajao have been completed today at 2 PM. The derailment on April 25 led to the cancellation of a few trains and the short termination and rescheduling of the others. The departmental engineers restored the track on war footing working overnight. Buses were arranged by the NF Railway for the stranded passengers. Food and water were also distributed. 300 labourers and 10 machines were put to work to complete the restoration work in record time.
Sabyasachi De, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), informed Barak Bulletin regarding the completion of restoration work on Friday. A note shared by the CPRO of NF Railway regarding the issue read, “Due to derailment of loco no 69032 of BCNHLE at KM 110/7 between Jatinga Lumpur and New Harangajao on 25.04.2024, few trains were cancelled, short terminated and rescheduled. Senior railway officials including the General Manager of NF Railway immediately rushed to the site with men and machinery and started the work on war footing despite the heavy rainfall in the hilly area. A total of 300 labourers and 10 machines were put in place for completing the restoration work”
“As a result of the sustained effort, the section was restored for train operation at 13:59 hrs of today (26.04.2024). The first train that crossed the section for Badarpur was the 20502 Anand Vihar – Agartala Tejas Rajdhani which crossed at 15:56 hrs”, the note further read.
Meanwhile, for the convenience of passengers, free buses were arranged from Lumding station up to their destinations in coordination with the state authorities. They were also provided with free food and water. Around 600 passengers stranded passengers last night, were transferred from Lumding, with the last bus leaving at noon today. The additional rush in the route was seen with the Lok Sabha election poll that took place today in the two constituencies of Barak Valley.
