Ramanuj Gupta Junior College's app hacked again; "Mind it... I'm watching you" notification sent

With the rise of websites and mobile applications, the fear of data breach is also rising. Whenever someone installs an app, he or she gives some major permissions like access to contact, media, camera, and more. Such permissions can cause serious damage when there is a pirate breaching through the security of the application.

In recent times, the websites of colleges got hacked one after another. In Barak Valley and other parts of Assam, similar activities took place. The hackers accessed the root of the websites and pushed a message of their choice. GC College’s website was one of those that got hacked.

“The website of the college has been restored now. We are in touch with the administrators of the website and we will try to find out the culprits responsible for the hack,” DGP Assam, Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta had said to Barak Bulletin.

Not only government websites. App of Ramanuj Gupta Junior College also got hacked. The hacker managed to get key access and sent a notification to the entire install base. The notification read, “We are from Bangladesh (Khan Cyber Army). So stupid security LOL  (laughing out loud). As expected from Indians.”

Cyber experts suggested the college authority report the incident to the local police so that a proper investigation is done. It seems the college authority did not learn a lesson. Within the span of a month, Ramanuj Gupta Junior college’s app got hacked again. Today morning, the hacker got similar access and sent a notification to the entire install base.

“Somewhere from India Just a message for business colleges like you, Better control your college fees because not everyone is capable to pay your dues. Everyone has right on education. Its an order not request 🙂 Mind it .. I’m watching you,” read the notification.

“I am in touch with the developer and we are looking at the issue,” said Rudra Narayan Gupta, president of Ramanuj Gupta Junior College and also the director of Green Heals Hospital. He added that the college management is in discussion with the app developer. “We will enhance the security in order to avoid such instances,” added Gupta.
