Removing Dalal from Barak Valley is a difficult task says CM; “Mini Secretariat to be ready within 36 months,” Sarma
During a meeting with the Circle Officers of the state, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma instructed that the Settlement Offices where land registration and permission are sanctioned must remain free of unauthorised middlemen. However, the instructions hardly had any impact in Silchar as the Settlement Office remain packed with brokers charging commission to people going there for documentation.
Barak Bulletin carried out two sting operations and exposed the brokers. Incidentally, the settlement officer called for a meeting with the journalists to discuss the issue. However, not a single journalist reporting on this particular issue were invited. The Settlement Officer argued that there is no “Dalal” in Silchar Settlement Office. Today, the Chief Minister is in Silchar and he was asked about the Dalal issue. Sarma replied, “Removing Dalal from offices in Barak Valley is a difficult task,” said CM. While the Settlement Officer was arguing against the reports published, CM, instead urged for cooperation. “Why would the press publish false reports. I request the press to provide me with a list of the Dalals operating at Settlement Office in Silchar,” asserted CM while concerning there are Dalals in the offices.
After inspection the construction site, Himanta Biswa Sarma have a good news for the people of Barak Valley. He said the Mini Secretariat will be ready in 24 to 36 months. The government, Sarma says government allocated Rs. 116 crore to complete the work. “Once the mini secretariat is ready, people of Barak Valley won’t need to go to Guwahati for everything. The developmental work will expedite as the paperwork can be done faster,”said Sarma.
He will also inspect the bypass – ring road and talk about the delay. Moreover, the CM took cognizance of the delay in construction of link Rangirkhari to Medical College Road. He said, he will seek details about the land acquisition necessary to complete the work.
