Repeat offender from Lailapur arrested with 295 containers filled brown sugar
Acting on a tip-off, Lailapur Police seized a huge number of suspected brown sugar vials and arrested one individual associated with this. The arrest has been made on Monday from Tikri village in Lailapur. Police in charge of Lailapur Police Petrol Post, along with his team have made this arrest based on the secret intel they received. 295 plastic containers with suspected brown sugar were found in his possession. The arrested individual has been identified as Azar Uddin, a resident of Lailapur itself and he has been arrested earlier with similar charges.
According to the information received from police sources, the net weight of the 295 brown sugar filled containers was 153.30 grams. The weight of just the brown sugar was 10.52 grams. After receiving the information, the Lailapur Petrol Post’s in charge Nechangsuam along with his team raided the residence of Azar Uddin at around 3 on Monday afternoon. The containers were found at his home and reported to the police, involved in the raid.
During the police raid, there were other Mizo drug peddlers as well. These peddlers managed to escape from the hands of the police, but Azar Uddin was arrested. He has been booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Right now he is in police custody under interrogation. NDPS Act prohibits a person from the production/manufacturing/cultivation, possession, sale, purchasing, transport, storage, and/or consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance.
