Resident of Dholai's Bhagabazar Killed by a Speeding Brick-laden Lorry
A resident of Dholai named Nagib Hussain Laskar of Rajghat Ward no. 1 died in an accident after being hit by a brick-laden speeding lorry. His wife Saleha Begum Laskar was severely injured in the accident which took place on Thursday evening and is undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). In another accident, two people were injured at Sildubi area near Sonabarighat under the Sonai constituency the same evening and they are also undergoing treatment at the Silchar Medical College & Hospital.
The first accident took place in Dholai Bhagabazar area around 3 pm on Thursday. According to eyewitnesses, Nagib Hussain Laskar’s bike collided with a brick-laden lorry approaching from the opposite direction. Both the driver and the rider were severely injured. The locals rushed immediately to the scene and took them to the local primary health centre, after which they were eventually sent to the SMC hospital. At around 4.30 pm, the doctors announced that Nagib Hussain Lashkar had succumbed to his injuries and his wife Baby Begum was also in critical condition.
According to family sources, Nagib Hussain Laskar and his wife were going to Dholai on a bike to see a doctor. They met with the accident on the road in front of Holy Life School adjacent to Bhagabazar. At the time of his death, Nagib Hussain Laskar was 40 years old. He left behind two sons and a daughter. The sudden untimely death of a guardian in this manner at such a young age has cast a shadow of grief over the entire family.
Meanwhile, another accident took place in Sildubi area adjacent to Sonabarighat under the Sonai constituency. Shibu Dey and Muslim Uddin Laskar were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a scooter and a bike. A resident of Sildubi area, Shibu Dey was going for some work on a scooter. Suddenly his scooter collided with a bike coming from the other direction. The two drivers were alone and they immediately fell on the road. The other injured Muslim Uddin Laskar is a resident of Dhanehari Ward no. 2. Both the injured were rushed to Silchar Medical College & Hospital with the help of 108 ambulances.
