Restrictions under 144 clamped in Hailakandi; "It is to ensure peace and tranquility," DC Dahal
The situation is getting tensed in Hailakandi. Yesterday, a young boy Abhijit Nath was allegedly attacked by two miscreants in the Lalpani area under Katlicherra Police Station.
Today, Hailakandi’s deputy commissioner has clamped restrictions under CrPC 144 throughout the district. Demonstrating against yesterday’s incident, or any sort of gathering anywhere in the district has been prohibited.
Speaking with Barak Bulletin, Hailakandi DC, Megh Nidhi Dahal said, “There is a lot of apprehension among people’s minds, that there could be a law and order situation in the district and that is why the administration has taken preventive measures.”
As per reports, Police have detained the main accused Jasim Uddin. It is worth mentioning here that the isolated incident in Lalpani is taking a communal shape. The deputy commissioner’s office has taken cognizance of the development and that is why decided to roll out the preventive measures.
