RTPCR is mandatory for International, unvaccinated, partially vaccinated passengers arriving at Silchar Airport; Quarantine for Int passengers
The COVID cases in Cachar, as well as Assam, are growing leaps and bounds. As the surge continues, various district administrations impose several restrictions to minimise the damage. Cachar district houses the only airport for a population of over 40 lakh in Barak Valley. Passengers from all across the world land in Silchar to reach their respective houses located in any of the three districts of Barak Valley.
Cachar District Administration has issued a set of guidelines for the air passengers arriving at Silchar Airport. The deputy commissioner of Cachar, Keerthi Jalli informed that the fully vaccinated domestic passengers who do not carry any symptoms can walk out of the airport without any restrictions.
It is compulsory for unvaccinated or single-dose vaccinated passengers to undergo an RTPCR test. However, they will be allowed to remain in home isolation till the time their reports are declared. If they wish, for the safety of their family members, they can remain in paid quarantine till they get the reports.
The stricter restrictions are for the International passengers arriving at the airport. As per the district’s rule, the International Passenger irrespective of their vaccination status, will have to undergo the mandatory RT PCR test and wait at a quarantine centre till they get their reports.
A total of eight hotels have been earmarked as centers for paid quarantine and the domestic or international passengers, opting for paid quarantine can avail of the services. Sagarika Hotel, Sudakshina Hotel, Rudraksh Hotel, JC International, Geetanjali Hotel, Oishee Hotel, Tripura Lodge, Hotel Ellora are the centres notified by the Cachar district administration.
