SDRF recovers dead body of a 60-year-old from a lake in NIT Silchar; Police suspect suicide

Shocking news coming in from the National Institute of Technology, Silchar. Dead body of a 60-year-old local was recovered from a lake inside the campus of this engineering institute.

What first appeared to be an accident is now suspected to be a sucide case.

After the police were informed about drowning of a man, they rushed to the spot with divers and experts from SDRF. The SDRF launched a search and rescue operation. After hours of search operation, the jawans managed to recover the dead body.

The deceased has been identified as Manju Dhar, a 60-year-old resident of Jogipara. The dead body has been kept at the morgue of Silchar Medical College and Hospital where the autopsy will be performed.

Ghungoor OC Birkumar Singha said while speaking with Barak Bulletin, “It is suspected to be a suicide case. He has been identified as Monju Dhar. Upon rescue, there was no pulse in his body and when the police rushed the dead body to the hospital, he was declared brought dead. Right now the dead body is at the morgue of SMCH”.
