SEBA Leak Scam: Examination of MIL/English (IL) subjects will now be held on April 1, 2023, from 9:00 am onwards
The ongoing controversy surrounding the leakage of HSLC General Science Exam question paper in Assam took a new turn when the arrested Centre-in-charge of Luhit Khabalu HS School reportedly confessed to leaking the Assamese paper as well. In response, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma advised the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) to reschedule the Assamese MIL exam.
Today, the education minister of Assam, Ranoj Pegu shared a notice which states, “This is to notify to all concerned that in view of. the ongoing Police Investigation regarding the leakage of the Question paper of the HSLC Examination 2023, and in order to avoid holding of examination of MIL subjects in a compromised situation, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam has decided to reschedule the Examination of MIL/English (IL) subjects earlier scheduled to be held on 18 March 2023. The Examination of MIL/English (IL) subjects will now be held on April 1, 2023, from 9:00 am onwards in all the centres of the state of Assam.”
Yesterday, Education Minister had shared a tweet that read like a cryptic confession of the fact that the CM is directly dealing with SEBA bypassing him. “SEBA has informed me that as advised by HCM @CMOfficeAssam , the exam of all MIL subjects, including English (IL) of HSLC scheduled for 18 March, will be rescheduled. The new date will be announced tomorrow,” the tweet read.
It maybe mentioned that SEBA cancelled the HSLC General Science exam scheduled for March 13 following reports of question paper leakage. Later, the board announced that the exam will be held on March 30.
The science paper leak incident led the government to launch a CID probe, which has resulted in the arrest of 25 individuals so far, including 12 minor students and four government servants. Some of the arrests were made from Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Guwahati, North Lakhimpur, and Dhemaji districts.
The arrests have been a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the question paper leak, with some of the accused reportedly being teachers. All the suspects have been brought to Guwahati for further investigation by the Police.
