The Direct Recruitment Test for Grade IV posts were held on August 21, where the number of absentees were 5,528 in Cachar, the centre of examination for Karimganj and Hailakandi as well. Many students missed that examination owing to the traffic conditions on National Highway 6, which connects Silchar to Karimganj and Hailakandi. But yesterday, that was not the case, the government also arranged an exam special train from Karimganj, which reached Silchar at 8:30 AM. Many candidates who didn’t want to take a chance also reached Silchar, a day in advance and yesterday, the Cachar Police also took concrete steps to manage the traffic flow in and outside the town. A huge force was deployed to ensure that there were no roadblocks and No Entry was clamped for heavy and goods carriers. In such conditions, traffic can not be the reason behind this huge number of absentees.
