September 6 COVID Update: 84 positive in Cachar, 72 Karimganj, Hailakandi 13; 52 critical in SMCH, no death
Cachar Health Department informed that 84 individuals have tested positive for COVID19 in the district on Sunday. A total of 781 samples were tested by using the Rapid Antigen Test Kit and out of them, 79 have tested positive. The remaining five were tested using RT-PCR.
Vice-principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital Dr. Bhaskar Gupta informed that 41 patients got admitted to the COVID wards at SMCH whereas 16 were discharged. Currently, he said, there are 202 active cases being treated in SMCH’s COVID wards.
“16 patients are in ICU and two have been placed under ventilator. At this stage, there are 52 patients in critical condition and 60 are under oxygen support. There was no death reported in the last 24 hours at SMCH,” added Gupta.
Detection of a high number of cases continues in Karimganj. On Sunday, 72 individuals tested positive. The health department shared that 479 samples were tested using the RAT kit and 23 have tested positive. The remaining 49 positive samples were tested using RT-PCR. 55 patients got discharged from the various COVID Care Centres in Karimganj.
In Hailakandi, 13 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported on Sunday taking the district’s total tally to 2520. All 13 were tested using the RAT kit. On Sunday, 488 samples were collected in the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner cum Chief Executive Officer, District Disaster Management Authority, Hailakandi, Ranadip Kumar Dam visited COVID Care Centres (CCCs) at Model School and Girls’ Hostel at Aloicherra on Sunday.
Accompanied by Shoma Roy, Circle Officer (Administration), Hailakandi cum Incharge of COVID Care Centres, Dam took stock of the bed arrangements, including food being served to the patients at both the CCCs.
