Shootout at a CRPF camp in Silchar; 1 dead, 1 critical

Last night at around 9:30 PM a shootout took place at 47 CRPF camp located in Kashipur area under Silchar Sadar Police Station. As per available information, three rounds were fired which claimed one life and another one is admitted at Silchar Medical College and Hospital in critical condition. 

Officer in charge of Silchar Sadar Police Station, Deetumani Goswami confirmed that one died in the firing while another one is in critical condition. He said, “We were informed about a shootout among the CRPF officials last night at the camp in Kashipur. We first went to SMCH to inspect the condition of the officials who got wounded. After reaching there, we got to know that one died and another one is critical.”

Goswami informed that the deceased has been identified as Bimalesh Upadhyay (driver) and Surendra Kumar is now admitted in the hospital. He also informed Hawalder Dharampal Yadav shot at the victims. He refused to share details or reveal the reason behind the shootout. “I along with a senior official is investigating the case and won’t be able to comment at the moment,” he said.

A case (387/2020) has been registered under section 326, 307, 302 IPC.
