
Shops and Commercial establishments to shut at 11; Curfew from 12; New COVID Guidelines
The chief secretary of Assam Jishnu Baruah who is also the chairman of State Executive Committee of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has issued a new order today. This adds to the restrictions issued earlier on May 12.
The new order comes into effect from 5 AM, May 16, 2021, and will remain in effect until further orders. The order imposes a total ban on the movement of individuals from 12 noon and directs the business establishments to bring shutter down by 11:00 am.
The Guidelines are:
1. All shops and commercial establishments shall shut down at 11 AM on all days.
2. All vehicles other than government vehicles and those exempted will be allowed to ply in accordance with an odd-even formula to be decided by the jurisdictional District Disaster Management Authority between 5 AM to 12 noon. However, this restriction shall not apply to personal vehicles used for medical emergencies.
3. There shall be a total ban on the movement of individuals from 12 noon to 5 AM daily, except for exemptions specified.
4. Other restrictions as notified vide Order No. ASDMA.242020/Pt-2/241 dated 12. May. 2021 and clarifications issued vide Order No. ASDMA.24/2020/Pt-2/250 dated 13. May. 2021 shall continue except the modification of timing as above.
The order states that the above restrictions have been imposed to further strengthen the containment of the spread of COVID-19.
