Silchar: Binita Nath's face gets burnt after facial, says parlour behaved irresponsibly
Silchar girl, an alumna of IIT Guwahati, Dr Binita Nath visited a parlour in the city recently and that has left her in shock. Nath currently resides in Italy as she has got an offer from the University of Rome (also known as Sapienza University) for post-doctoral studies. She was in her hometown – Silchar recently and visited Sarada Parlour.
Nath had a wedding to attend in Guwahati and that is why she went to the parlour. “This was the first time I visited a parlour after my wedding,” said Nath. She added, “I do not visit parlours regularly, don’t do threading, never had to remove my facial hair. I went there and said I would like to get a facial done and they recommended detan facial. They said I have some facial hair and if I don’t want to get threading or waxing done, I can use bleach. I said, let’s do it.”
Ater the facial, the beauticians in the parlour applied the bleach and Nath said, she felt as if someone “poured hot oil” on her skin. “Immediately I got a burning sensation on my face. I screamed with pain and they removed the layer they had put. I followed up with some ice-bags but I guess it was too late,” explained Nath.
She has burn marks all over her face. The spots are deep and she had to rush to a doctor for medical assistance. “Doctors have confirmed that these are burn marks. I am applying medicines and it will take some time to heal,” informed Nath.
Deep Deb Roy, co-owner of the Sarada Parlour in Silchar said he is shocked and at the same time apologetic. “My father is bedridden and therefore I and my wife were not present at the parlour that day. I feel her pain and regret that the unfortunate incident took place. Something must have gone wrong and I wish I could stop it,” said Roy.
He added, “What I have got to know from my staff is that the client insisted to get a bleach done. The staff at the parlour had told her that bleach might not suit the skin after a de-tan facial, but the client insisted and the staff went on to apply the bleach.”
Nath, however, said she is not a fool to insist something that could end up burning her skin. “The owners were irresponsible and unprofessional. I called the owner after I realised I have burn marks all over my face. She spoke to me and I even sent her some images. I could see blue ticks on WhatsApp, forget apologising, she did not even bother to answer my calls even once. I was bound to put it on Facebook, as what happened to me, can happen to anyone else,” asserted Binita Nath.
Binita Nath spent her early days in the quarters of National Institute of Technology (then REC) and studied in Holy Cross School Silchar. Later on, she did her mechanical Engineering and joined NIT where she did her M-Tech. Soon after that Nath made it to Indian Institute of Technology to do Ph.D.
