Silchar Collegiate School teacher tests positive; “He did not attend school,” headmistress
The Covid menace is spreading like a wildfire in India and the vicious flames are prominent in the Cachar district too. A couple of days back, news of a student testing positive broke in Silchar. The senior secondary student of Ramanuj Gupta Junior College is now in home isolation.
Today, the Headmistress of Silchar Collegiate School confirmed that the mathematics teacher of the institution, Biswajit Chakraborty has tested positive for Covid-19.
“We got to know about it last night,” said Mandira Dasgupta, Headmistress Silchar Collegiate School. She added, “He did not attend school recently. He has been keeping unwell and that is why he was on leave.”
Biswajit Chakraborty has been admitted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. “After testing positive for the virus, he went and got himself admitted to the hospital. He did not come to school, yet, we will sanitise the classrooms,” shared Mandira Dasgupta.
She informed that as per the resolution, offline classes will begin from Monday and the situation will be reviewed from time to time. “Everything will depend on the Covid scenario. For now, we will begin (after the break) with the classes from Monday.
According to sources, Silchar Collegiate School has decided impose certain restrictions to the foundation day programme. “Due to some unavoidable circumstances and as directed by Headmistress . . . the cultural programme and felicitation to pass out students on Foundation Day of the school 24/4/2021 is hereby postponed and so no REHEARSAL will be there for the time being. The participants will be informed later accordingly,” is a message that the students have received.
Dasgupta said, they will review the situation and make a decision on the foundation day programme.
