Silchar girl Dibija is the new champion of All Assam Table Tennis Ranking Championship, defeats state champion from Guwahati

Silchar girl Dibija Paul has won the All Assam Ranking Table Championship in the “Under-11 Singles” category. In the ongoing championship held at Jorhat’s Kushal Konwar Indoor Stadium, Silchar’s Dibija has shown this marvellous feat. Her performance was remarkable throughout the tournament; in the final, she faced the current state champion from Guwahati. Aayat Rahman, the current champion from Guwahati had to face a defeat against Dibija’s attacking spirit. 

In the final match held today in Jorhat, Dibija won the first round with 11-08 points but the second round saw Aayat’s comeback. In the second round, Aayat won with 08-11 points. This was strongly responded to by Dibija in the third round when defeated Aayat with 11-05 points. Aayat didn’t give up there and made the penultimate round in her name. In the fourth round, Dibija was defeated with 09-11 points.

At this point, the game was neck to neck and anything could happen. In the nail-biting final round, Dibija outperformed herself and defeated the current state champion, Aayat Rahman, with 11-05 points. With that, Silchar’s Dibija Paul became the new state champion in the Under-11 category.

It is worth mentioning here that, Dibija Paul was the runner-up in the last State-Ranking tournament. This year was her comeback and she went one step ahead to become the State Champion this year.
