Silchar girl gets awarded with Miss East India in a National level plus-size beauty pageant

Riya Das, a resident of SMC road Silchar lived a dream on the August 27 when she was awarded as the Miss East India title in the Maven Miss Plus-Size India beauty pageant. 

The model who did her post graduation from Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Guwahati says, “It was like a dream come true for me to be able to represent the North-East of India and it greatly motivates me to work more harder and spread the cause.”

Riya Das has been very vocal about body positivity and about loving and embracing all body types on her social media platform and has collaborated with various like minded companies and organizations in the past.

It’s through her Instagram that she came across this event by Maven Productions in Delhi and applied for it at once, never imagining she would end up getting crowned. She was also awarded as the best on Ramp by the jury.

Riya believes that events like this will help the message of body positivity and the mindset against body shaming will find extra boost of thought in the mind of the general mass and greatly contribute to the cause of loving everyone in all shape, size and color.

She further informs us, “I am aspiring to be a full time plus size model and inspire more and more people to come join the cause. I am open for all kinds of projects and work and I am so glad that plus size modeling is slowly and steadily starting to become a big thing in India.”
