Silchar-Guwahati East West Corridor to be completed in 2 years, Silchar-Haflong section by the time of Durga Puja : Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy

The new flight service between Silchar and Guwahati by FlyBig airlines has started today. Passengers can now travel between Silchar-Guwahati-Silchar at a very low cost. The new flight was flagged off by Minister Jayant Malla Baruah in Guwahati this morning. The flight carrying 59 passengers from Guwahati landed at Silchar’s Kumbhirgram airport at 8:30 am. The plane took off from Kumbhirgram airport again with 61 passengers on board. The second flight of FlyBig airlines from Silchar to Guwahati was flagged off at Kumbhirgram airport by Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy. The people of Barak Valley have welcomed this move of government.

Speaking to reporters Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy said, “Today Flybig has started their operations in Silchar-Guwahati sector. A pact has been formed between FlyBig and Assam Government due to which the flights in this route will be subsidised. The price of tickets will be very low. In today’s flight from Silchar to Guwahati the price of tickets was at around 1,400 rupees. We thank CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and PM Narendra Modi as low cost flights between Silchar and Guwahati has been made possible due to their efforts through RCS and Udaan scheme.”

Apprising the progress of East-West Corridor the MP said, “By the time of Durga Puja it can be hoped that the 99 km stretch of Mahasadak between Silchar and Haflong will be completed. We also anticipate that within two years the East-West Corridor will be completed and the 410 km distance between Silchar and Guwahati can be covered through Mahasadak.”
