Silchar - Guwahati train to run on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from October 21

The office of the General Manager – Operations, NF Railways has announced that the train between Silchar and Guwahati will begin its journey from October 21 and continue till November 20. This is one of the 196 trains that were approved by the Railway board considering the festive season.

The Silchar – Guwahati train will run tri-weekly. It will depart from Silchar Railway Station every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 8:05 pm and reach Guwahati at 7:45 AM. From Guwahati, the train will depart every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at 5:30 PM and reach Silchar next morning at 5:55 AM.

The train will halt at Katakhal, Badarpur, New Harangajao, New Haflong, Mahur, Maibang, Lumding, Hojai, Chaparmukh and Guwahati.

In September, Silchar MP, Rajdeep Roy went to meet Minister Piyush Goyal and had requested for this train. For the first time after the lockdown, the Silchar – Guwahati commuters will have railways as an option.

This will bring respite to the people of Barak Valley as they face a lot of harassment while traveling on road via Meghalaya.

This train is allowed till November 20 and if before that the railway board does not issue an extension, the services will be disrupted again.
