Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy writes to Railway Minister; Urges to run Vista Dome express between Lumding and Badarpur

Recently, the NF Railway had announced that the Vistadome Express that was earlier scheduled to run between Lumding and Badarpur would now run between New Haflong and Guwahati stations. This has obviously come off as a huge disappointment to the people of Barak Valley who were expecting the Vistadome Express to attract tourists from all over the country to the lush green hills of the region.

Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy took notice of the development and has submitted a letter to the Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, appealing to make the Vistadome Express run between Lumding and Badarpur, as earlier promised by the Former Railway Minister Piyush Goyal back in 2018.

Citing the scenic beauty of the North Cachar and Borail Hills, the Silchar MP appealed to the Railway Minister to ensure that the Vistadome Express run between Lumding and Badarpur as planned and discussed before, as opposed to running between Lumding and Guwahati. He also said that the operation in this route will hopefully also generate commercial gains for the Indian Railways.

A few days back, in the internal communication of Railways, written by Dy COM, RN Ranmung to the New Haflong – Guwahati section, the official urged to be ready to operate vistadome coaches between Guwahati to New Haflong Railway Station. The NF Railways proposed to operate Vista Dome coaches between New Haflong Railway Station and Guwahati, which the Railways have approved on July 30. But in 2018, Piyush Goyal attended a review meeting in Guwahati with Railway officials. In that meeting, he directed the Railway authorities for arranging Vistadome coaches for the Lumding Badarpur section along with other tourist routes in the Northeast, which now stands challenged.

For the freshers, the Vistadome coach is a state-of-the-art coach made by Indian Railways, designed to provide passengers with travel comfort as well as an enhanced viewing experience of their surroundings. Vistadome coaches are designed with glass roofs and larger windows to let the passengers enjoy the beautiful sceneries in their full glory.
