Silchar MP’s Sonai nominee Saharul Alom detained; Cachar Police arrests Anjan Paul

Big breaking news coming in from Cachar Police Headquarters in Silchar. Cachar SP Dr. Ramandeep Kaur’s “All Out” drive against the betel nut syndicate and subsidised fertiliser has intensified.

A few moments earlier, a team of Cachar Police under the direction of SP Kaur, summoned Saharul Alom Sheikh for interrogation. Then he was escorted to Silchar Sadar Police Station where he was further interrogated by additional SP of Cachar, Subrata Nath. Police sources informed us that they have evidence to establish his close links with Altaf Hussain who has been identified as a wanted criminal and is currently absconding.

A resident of Sonai’s Uttar Mohanpur, Saharul Alom Sheikh is a political figure and in fact, he is the official nominee of Silchar MP, Dr. Rajdeep Roy. He was escorted to the government medical centre for mandatory medical check up which hints that he might be arrested soon.

In another high profile raid, Cachar Police has arrested Anjan Paul from Hospital Road. Anjan Paul is a resident of Hailakandi district but was a key member in the nexus that operated the Bumese Supri Syndicate using Barak Valley as a safe gateway to transport illegally smuggled betel nuts from Myanmar. Anjan Paul is known to be a close aide of Dipankar Deb who is already in Police custody.

Abu Mazumdar, Zakir Hussain Talukdar, Altaf Hussain are still absconding and Cachar Police is trying to trace their whereabouts.
