Silchar Otakus’ third anime con “Winter Fest” is on December 4, huge footfall await

The third edition of Otaku Fest organised by Silchar Otakus is going to be held this Sunday at the Children’s Park, Jail Road. This edition is Winter Fest and it marks the one-year celebration of Silchar Otakus. This edition of the anime fest is going to have a lineup of stalls, crowd activities, cosplay, and anime screening among others. Anime fans of Silchar are certainly crazy about this as the organizers expect double footfall than previous editions.

For those living under a rock, anime is taking the internet by storm. It refers to animated series which are either hand-drawn or computer generated. This form of “comic” originated from Japan, but today has a global penetration. Fans are quite loyal and crazy when it comes to this form of comic series, shows and books. The previous editions of “Otaku Fest” in Silchar, saw huge crowds even though they were held in a remote locality.

Silchar Otakus founder and event organizer Joy Singha said, “This year’s edition is Winter Fest and this is the first time we are organizing this fest inside the town. Actually, we had to, as in the previous editions we organized the fest in the outskirts of Silchar and most of our audience is in the 18-24 age group who faces issues travelling to those locations. The demand was to hold this somewhere in the town and we did. We have received an immense response this year. Our tickets are sold out and we are really grateful for this. But appreciating the demand, we have kept 100 passes in the offline mode, which will be available on a first come first serve basis.”

Speaking about the event on December 4, Joy Singha also mentioned, “The gates will open at 2 in the afternoon and we have line-up up to 8 PM. This year we have some interesting stalls like Japanese street food carts, anime-themed merchandise, photo booths and some other contests as well. The main attraction remains cosplay like the other editions, which means people dress up like their favourite anime characters. Other than that there is a Martial Arts display, a cosplay artist from Guwahati and a DJ from Haflong, who will close the show. Silchar has a huge anime fan base and we are expecting a footfall of 400 to 500”. Anime is certainly the big pop-culture element and the unique art style, and the above-and-beyond storylines, are all the buzz about. For more details follow Silchar Otakus on Instagram
