Astonishingly, the Police that remained quiet each time when the media personnel were subjected to atrocities in recent times, is now lodging suo moto FIR. Why don’t they go out and trace the owner and driver of the vehicle that ran over Malin Sarma and killed him in Tarapur,” questioned Shankar Dey.

He condemned the charges that were pressed against Pradip Dutta Roy and appealed against discrimination. He also called for a protest against the fabrication of charges. Seeking suggestions from other journalists present in the meeting, he opened the floor.

Senior journalists Ratan Deb, Zakir Hussain Laskar, Abhijeet Bhattacharjee, Ratnadeep Deb, Yasin Mazumdar, Bhaskar Shome, Paplu Das, and others spoke at the meeting and placed their suggestions.

Another senior journalist of this Barak Valley, Bikash Chakraborty concluded the meeting. It was decided in the meeting that the members who attended the meeting will submit memorandums to respective heads of various pillars of democracy.

All journalists were united in the motion that the way Police dragged media into the controversy and used the fourth pillar of democracy as a tool to create a case against a man, is not only unfair but also unlawful. Therefore, there will be a united and democratic protest against the act.
