Silchar records 39.6 degree 2nd highest ever for the month of July
People in the southern Assam are witnessing excruciating hot weather as a mild heat wave is sweeping over different regions and districts which may continue for next few days, officials said.
Silchar on Thursday witnessed 2nd highest temperature for the July month ever, of 39.6 degree centigrade.
The highest temperature in the month of july was of 39.8 degree centigrade that was recorded on 19th July 2018.
The roads and market of Silchar donned a deserted look on Thursday afternoon due to the rising temperature.
As per weather forecast, the heat wave is likely to continue amidst possibility of thunderstorm, lightening and few spells of rainfall at isolated places.
In this scorching heat, it is advised for citizens, particularly those belonging to vulnerable groups, to remain indoors as much as possible.
