Silchar Safety Alert: Stolen Blue Maruti Eeco Sparks Concern in Town
A family from Meghalaya recently visited Silchar to meet their relatives, but their trip took an unexpected turn when their vehicle was stolen. Despite our cultural belief in “Atithi Devo Bhavah” (guests are gods), incidents like these can dampen the visitor’s experience.
The theft occurred at 12:40 am on Hospital Road, where Manajit Dhar’s four-wheeler, a blue Maruti Eeco with the license plate ML05T7655, was parked outside the civil hospital. Mr. Dhar promptly sought help from law enforcement, filing a report at Rangirkhari Police Station. Unfortunately, there are no leads as of now, emphasizing the town’s lack of safety and security.
Silchar residents might expect assistance from public CCTV cameras during such incidents, but many of them are non-functional. Fortunately, the Dhar family obtained CCTV footage from a private shop owner, although it isn’t clear. The police are currently investigating, hoping to recover the stolen vehicle.
The Dhar family, who visited Silchar for just one day, now faces an uncertain wait for the investigation to conclude. Despite filing the FIR, no leads have surfaced yet. In the meantime, Mr. Dhar urges Silchar residents to stay vigilant to protect their belongings.
If anyone has information about the stolen car, they are urged to contact +91 8258985818. The hope is for a positive outcome as the investigation continues.
