Silchar twin Kamanashish and Kapinjal Chowdhury scoring big at national level corporate quiz

Kapinjal Choudhury and Kamanashish Choudhury, twin brothers hailing from Silchar, Assam have spent their formative years, starting from high school to undergraduation, together until their further ambition took them different paths. But one thing always brought them together – their innate love for quizzes. Growing up, the duo never missed a chance to participate in any form or level of quiz competition there has been.

This time, the duo managed to do it in the National level corporate quiz. In the recently concluded Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz, Kapinjal Choudhury bagged the 1st prize in the Andhra/Telangana cluster, whereas his sibling Kamanashish Choudhury managed to bag 2nd prize in the Delhi NCR cluster. The Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz is an annual corporate quiz competition organised by the Tata Consultancy Services throughout India in 12 clusters, from which winners from each cluster would qualify for the semis. From there, only 6 will qualify for the Final to fight for the sole winner spot at the National level.

Hence, Kapinjal, being the winner of the Andhra/Telangana cluster, has already qualified for the semis of the Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz, and he’s just one step away from stepping into the Grand final. Talking to Barak Bulletin about this achievement, Kapinjal said, “No wonder I’m elated to come off as the winner and qualify for the next round. What’s even more exciting is the fact that I’ve managed to beat the current National Champion Naveen Kumar, who also happens to be my Guru. So it’s a great feeling for sure.” Kapinjal is currently based out of Hyderabad and employed at the Tata Consultancy Services.

Kapinjal and Kamanashish were both born and brought up in Silchar, where they first did their schooling at the South Point School and later pursued their higher secondary from the Ramanuj Gupta Senior Secondary School. After completing their 10+2, the twin duo studied engineering from the Assam Engineering College (AEC) in Guwahati. Regarding their quizzing skill, both the siblings believe that being a good quizzer is not just about preparing or memorizing, it’s a lifelong habit as well.

“Since pretty early from our school days, we used to be fascinated by quiz competitions. And especially TV quiz shows like ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and ‘Bournvita Quiz Contest’ hosted by Derek O’Brien, inspired us a lot as we used to stay glued to the TV and jot down whatever we could fetch from those quizzes. Then, we started participating in school quiz competitions and gradually, we didn’t miss any such opportunity that came by, and along the way, we also won many among them”, said Kapinjal who’s now set to prepare for the next round of the Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz.

Right from an early age, the duo showed good promising signs of being a seasoned quizzer. Apart from representing their school on many occasions and also winning accolades there, they kept up this culture of taking part in quiz even during their engineering days at the AEC, Guwahati. “Back in Silchar, we didn’t have too many opportunities to take part in quizzes as there used to be very few back then. But in Guwahati, it used to happen quite frequently and we even travelled to other cities and towns of Assam during our engineering days just to take part in a quiz, and also came back with prizes. By then, quizzing had already become a part of us, so we were almost always winning something or the other”, asserted Kamanashish Choudhury, who’s living in Delhi and currently employed at PubMatic, a digital advertising technology company.
