
Silver Oil Lamp Found from Drain in Nutanpatty, Locals Suspect Theft
In the early noon of Monday, discovering an unusual item from a drain caused quite the brouhaha in Silchar’s Nutanpatty area. While the drain was being cleaned before the onset of monsoons, cleaners found an item which not only gathered the public in the area, but also led to police intervention.
People from all across the town got the information which spread through WhatsApp messages and phone calls.
A oil lamp, with its tall stand, allegedly made of silver, was discovered in the said drain in Silchar’s Nutanpatty area on March 24, raising suspicions of theft.
The ceremonial oil lamp, typically featuring a peacock on top, was found while the drain was being cleaned. Locals informed the police, who later took possession of the item.
Suspicion arose that the oil lamp, fit atop the stand might have been stolen and dumped in the drain.
