SMCH Junior Doctor Association protests against the attack on Dr. Seuj Kumar Senapati, demands action

SMCH Junior Doctor Association has released a press release on the recent attack on a doctor at Model Hospital Hojai. The young doctor had inflicted grievous injuries after some perpetrators beat him during duty hours after a Covid-19 patient died at his hospital.

The association condemned the action against Dr. Seuj Kumar Senpati, MO of Udali Model Hospital Hojai and sought strict action from the government. They even staged a protest against the event today at SMCH.

Putting forward its demand, the association pointed at:

1. FastTrack investigation of the case and deliver justice to the victims.

2. Immediate financial and emotional support to the affected doctor and his family.

3. Armed security forces should be provided in the Covid Care Centers with immediate effect.

4. Strengthening of security forces within casualty, general wards and covid wards of SMCH.

5. The referral services at peripheral health centres should be made stronger with one or two ambulances available at all times to facilitate easy and swift transfer.

6. Adequate supply of medicines and oxygen should be ensured so that emergency treatment can be given at PHCs.

7. Establishment of an police outpost functioning within the smch campus.
