Son murders mother in Karimganj village

A 45-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her son at Botoiya village under Patharkandi constituency in Karimganj district on Friday.

Simanta Bora, an inspector at Patharkandi police station, said preliminary investigation has revealed that Taimun Necha was killed by her son Niyaj Uddin (22) over a quarrel regarding sharing of money that came from selling of a betelnut garden recently. Taimun and Niyaj had been in bitter terms over the matter for the past few days and that ultimately led to the incident, Bora said.

Taimun was murdered while she was returning back to home from Eraligul village around 11am this morning. On her way back, Niyaj killed her with a sharp-edged weapon after finding her at an abandoned place near Botoiya, around 90km from Silchar. He took wild slashes on her head and shoulder owing to which she suffered critical injuries. After sometime, she succumbed to her injuries while being taken to a hospital, he said.

Taimun was one of the three wives of Junab Ali, a resident of Botoiya village. Her dead body was handed over to her family after the post-mortem and a probe was initiated into the incident. Niyaj was absconding, as per last available reports.
